The Haskell Opera House is a remarkable 400-seat theatre with near-perfect sight lines and ambiophonic sound await you. It caters to the surrounding communities in both English and French on both sides of the Canada-US border. Every year, an eclectic mix of avid audiences, performers, and tourists grace this heritage site with their presence and curiosity to watch theatre, dance, music, and everything in between.
As patrons of the only theatre in North America that straddles the Canadian-American border, you may find yourselves seated in the United States or Canada, while enjoying live performances and entertainment on the stage located in Canada.

Getting Here
The Haskell Opera House is located on Church Street in Stanstead if you are in Canada, or on Caswell Avenue in Derby Line if you are in the United States.
It is located a few minutes drive off the US91 Highway or Quebec’s 55 Highway.

Box Office & Ticket Sales
Tickets may be purchased during the regular office hours of the library (see below) or at the box office a half-hour before show time. Tickets for some shows may be available online.

- Theatre management reserves the right to refuse admission and refund the ticket price to any individual.

Gift Certificates
Gift certificates are the perfect gift and available for purchase in any denomination and redeemable for tickets at the Haskell Free Library during regular business hours.
Parking
US: Visitors from the United States may park in the Haskell Opera House parking lot on Caswell Avenue. Parking is also available on Main Street, Baxter Avenue, and Pelow Hill.
Canada: Visitors from Canada may park on Church Street, Phelps Street, Baxter Street, or in the municipal parking lot off Phelps Street.

Entrance
The Haskell Opera House has a single entrance, located in the United States.
To access the Haskell Opera House, visitors from Canada must park on the Canadian side and follow the sidewalk from Church Street to the entrance. Upon leaving the building, they must return to Canada by going back the same way.
As the only entrance to the Haskell Opera House is in the United States, all non-American visitors passing through the US to enter the Haskell Opera House must understand that their movements will be monitored by the US Border Patrol and the RCMP.
Passports and visas are not required to enter the Haskell Opera House. However, please be aware that both the US Border Patrol and the RCMP have the right to ask to see personal identification and detain anyone who is not of legal status. You are encouraged to bring your personal identification.

Food & Beverage
Food and beverage services may be available during certain events and performances.
Only food and beverage purchased on-site will be allowed during events and performances. Food is not permitted inside the theatre and must be consumed before entering the theatre.

Etiquette
Late Arrivals
- Latecomers will be seated at the first suitable opportunity as deemed by theatre management.
- Use of cameras, audio, and video recorders are prohibited during performances.
- Mobile phones, pagers, and electronic devices must be turned off at all times during performances..
- Every person must have a ticket in order to be admitted to a performance. This policy applies to everyone, including children and infants.
- Please be aware that some audience members may have allergies and so please refrain from wearing cologne and perfume.
- Filming, photography, and/or recordings may occur at the Haskell Opera House. By entering the venue and being present during a performance, you consent to being photographed, filmed, and/or otherwise recorded.
- Public health regulators have lifted face-mask measures, but these measures remain encouraged.
